Diet for Rosacea

Which Foods Cause Rosacea?

Is there a diet for rosacea that will stop your facial redness and breakouts? Though many doctors don't believe there is a link between rosacea and foods, many people have discovered that certain foods do cause rosacea symptoms.

Discovering the Link Between Rosacea and Foods

If you're not sure whether to go through the process of creating a diet for rosacea, there IS a way for you to discover whether there is a link between your rosacea and foods.

  1. Keep a daily food diary of everything you eat, and when you ate it.

  2. At the same time, keep track of when you get a rosacea flushing incident or eruption of bumps and redness.

As you look back over your food diary, you will begin to notice whether or not there is any relationship between rosacea and foods you are eating.

Common Foods that Cause Rosacea Symptoms

Many people with rosacea have discovered that certain foods WILL trigger their rosacea symptoms. Here is a short list of some of the most common.

You may notice some similarities with your own experience, or you may discover your own rosacea "trigger foods".

    • Caffeine
    • Alcohol
    • Hot beverages
    • Hot foods
    • Spicy foods
    • Marinated foods
    • Pickled foods
    • Fermented foods
    • Red Meat
    • Cheese and Dairy products
    • Foods with artificial colorings or flavorings
    • Foods with MSG

Many of these foods are not the freshest or healthiest of foods, and they tend to be more acid producing for the body. There are even some 100% natural foods that can trigger rosacea symtpoms for some people:

    • Avocados
    • Bananas
    • Citrus Fruits
    • Eggplant
    • Figs
    • Raisins
    • Spinach
    • Tomatoes

    Foods to Eat for Rosacea

The best foods to eat for rosacea are fresh, whole foods which are high alkaline and which do not produce inflammation in the body.

Foods high in Omega 3 fatty acids are a plus. You may need to supplement your Omega 3's as many people with sensitive skin need abundant supplies of this essential nutrient. I recommend an Omega 3 supplement made with pure fish oil. It is VERY difficult to find a good quality fish oil that is not contaminated with environmental pollutants.

A good rosacea diet contains an abundance of these kinds of foods to build health and reduce inflammation:

    • Wild salmon, sardines and other oily fish
    • Fresh Berries such as blueberries, rasperries, blackberries
    • Fresh vegetables, both raw and lightly cooked
    • Low inflammation whole grains like millet, quinoa, rice
    • Lean white meat such as turkey and chicken
    • Nuts and seeds
    • Tofu (if tolerated)

And don't forget this very important component of a good rosacea diet...

Lots and lots of pure water!

This simple and healthy rosacea diet has many side benefits, such as a reduction in facial wrinkles and fewer aches and pains!

Please understand this the rosacea diet suggestions are a general guideline, as that you will need to keep a food journal for a while to get to know the foods that cause rosacea outbreaks.

Our bodies are miraculous and unique, and if you develop a good relationship with your body, it will reward you with greater health AND clearer and more radiant skin.

Diet for Rosacea - A Complete Program

One of the ways you can address the health of your WHOLE body, and to begin to clear up your rosacea naturally is to use a holistic rosacea treatment program which helps you to clear up the rosacea from multiple angles, INCLUDING the psychological.

Yes, that's one of the challenges of rosacea, is that when you feel embarrassed or stress out, your face gets REDDER, which just adds more fuel to the rosacea fires!
