Not So Expensive Healthy Mineral Make Up

by Sabrina
(Virginia USA)

I've been using Bare Minerals for a few years and it has been working OK as far as i know. I do have natural redness on my cheeks and bridge of my nose. Because of this and other acne and dry skin problems i don't like leaving the house without make up.About the concern about money I'm going into collage and wont have the privilege of getting the Bare mineral so i was wondering if you could help me?

Our reply

Hi Virginia,

Congratulations on getting into college!
That's a tremendous blessing, and one that is not available to everyone. I understand the financial challenges you are facing, however we don't have free mineral makeup to offer. If we did, we would recommend a Bismuth-free mineral makeup for sensitive skin, as there is less chance that you will develop a severe reaction to the product.

What we can offer you is the tremendous amount of free information on this site. We have over 1000 pages of high quality information available here. It wasn't free to create, as it took a lot of time and effort on my part, and also a lot of trial and error from my own personal experience to see what works. Also, our 52 eBook is STILL free even though I should have started charging for it years ago!

Although these are difficult times economically, there are also tremendous opportunities and an infinite number of creative ways you can earn income doing something you love. Just yesterday I met a young man from Nigeria who at age 16 is earning a very generous income online as a writer! I wish you much success in finding your way in this new time in your life.

Mineral Makeup Tour

by Aimee
(NC)

I am interested in the mineral make up line you say that cannot be linked--or you are not allowed to? Please let me know what that is.

thanks,
Aimee

Our reply

Hi Aimee, thanks for your message! That line is no longer available, however the other brands of mineral makeup that I use, and a few other brands that I am look forward to trying, are still available. The hardest part is finding the right shade, so you may need to get a few samples to start.

The Cleure brand of ***z-cleure-hypoallergenic-cosmetics.shtml*** are gentle and work well even for sensitive skin, and have no irritants and will last all day on your skin. These are the best choice if you find your skin gets irritated easily.

There are some other brands that claim to be gentle and hypoallergenic mineral makeup, and I haven't tried these yet but I have researched their ingredients lists, and at the time that I looked, I was satisfied enough to be willing to use these myself.

These brands have more ingredients (which does increase the risk that you may react to one of them) and they do contain botanical and plant ingredients (unlike ***z-cleure.shtml*** which is free of plant allergents) but they may work for you, depending on your unique skin. Please always do a skin test before trying any new mineral makeup product.

The brand that I tried a sample of at my hair salon is Jane Iredale which is quite nice, and seems to offer the best options for many different types and shades of mineral foundation.

Our reply

Hi Linda, I'm so sorry for all the difficulty you've had finding makeup for your sensitive skin. Often the ingredients in these products can cause irritation for sensitive skin. Our site has information on this in our Safe Cosmetics Guide.

We recommend that you consider using mineral makeup for sensitive skin.

Makeup and Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin

I have a sensitive skin and hence I am allergic to any cosmetics. I use nivea moisturizer for my hands and after 4 days of using it, my skin became dark. I am allergic to all sunscreens. Also if I m not able to use eyeliners. :( I need a good moisturizer, cleanser for my skin. Please suggest.

Our reply

Hi, and thanks for your message. I recommend the ***z-cleure-facial-pack.shtml*** which is very gentle, affordable, and works very well to moisturize skin without irritating ingredients. I use this myself with great results and the products last a long time, so they end up being much less expensive to use that most hypoallergenic skin care. They also have a nice line of hypoallergenic cosmetics that includes non-irritating eyeliners, mascaras, eye shadow, mineral makeup, blush, foundation, and lipstick. Most ingredients are safe and non-toxic and are created especially for people with sensitive skin.

Looking for Mineral Makeup for Mature Skin

I'm 60 yrs. young. What is the best makeup available on the market for me?

Our reply

That's a great question, and I'm afraid I'm not very expert in the area of makeup! I also have what is fondly known as "mature" skin, and I am just starting my exploration of mineral makeup.

The brands I use and am most familiar with are listed here at our safe skin care products page.

A new brand that I just started using makes an excellent mineral foundation that provides a pearlescent shine and a natural look, without settling into wrinkles. There is more information on this line here at wholesale skincare products page.

Other brands I haven't tried yet, but do recommend as they are work well and contain safe ingredients:

Jane Iredale

Mychelle Cosmetics

Suki Cosmetics

Does anyone else have suggestions for great mineral makeup for mature skin?
