*Praying for a Cure*

by Ashly
(CO)

I have been struggling with dry, sensitive skin my whole life. And for the past 6 years I've had to deal with a very embarrassing acne problem that I can not get figured out.

Although it sounds very cliche to say.. I feel like I have tried everything! From all different products, drug store brands and very good professional brands(Demalogica, Sanitas, bio elements)to Microdermabrasion (which did help for a while), Chemical peels, and then I finally went to a Dr. and they have me on a topical antibiotic cream which i've been on for almost 3 months and have not seen much improvement at all.

Having dry/sensitive skin with an acne problem is so much harder to deal with because almost all acne healing products are drying! so that's obviously not going to help my case.. then again living in CO doesn't help a whole lot either especially in the winter!

Luckily there is such a thing as make up to make life a little less embarrassing..(I'm still trying to find a better mineral make up with good coverage) But I don't want to have to cover up my face like a mask. I just want to have Healthy, blemish free, beautiful glowing skin!

Coping with Acne
by: Bronwen Thompson

Hi there Ashly,

I have just read your story and wanted to pass on some information that might be of help in your battle against acne.

Diet is very important and the avoidance of refined carbohydrates and a reduction in animal fats can help. A moderate dose of ZINC is also very beneficial. It is important to buy pure Zinc rather than a combination zinc tablet and try and find one that does not have a million and one other ingredients that are not necessary. It is best to take the Zinc just before you go to bed with some water this way it does not disrupt other vitamins and minerals. A recommended dose of 30-40 mg of zinc per day for about 3-4 months has been shown to be beneficial.

I hope this might be helpful to you and wish you all the best.
Best Wishes
Bronwen

Welcome Ashly
by: Mashubi

Hello Ashly, and welcome! Thank you for sharing, and I hope our site can be of help to you in finding a solution to the acne outbreaks you are experiencing.

I have heard of many people finding relief from long standing skin problems by using acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine or TCM. A good practitioner of TCM generally has a knowledge of Chinese herbs.

When I have had long standing chronic problems, it was usually the acupuncture and herbs that solved it. I have found that acupuncturists who studied the Worsley method of acupuncture seem best at going right to the root of the problem.

One of the sections of our site that also may be helpful is Foods That Cause Acne.

I wish you much success in finding a solution Ashly!
