Any Suggestions for Detox or Cleansing?

My husband and I both have fragrance hypersensitivity. His is worse than mine is. He also has scleroderma. He has confined himself to a controlled environment to control exposure. Any suggestions on detox or cleansing?

My reply:

Hi, and thank you for writing. Detox or cleansing can be an excellent way to minimize hypersensitivity, although it does not work for everyone who has fragrance sensitivity (see my note below).

There are so many different options for doing a cleanse. Some people use herbal programs while continuing to eat their regular diet. Others prefer to do a fruit and vegetable based cleanse using natural foods, or fresh vegetable juices. I have found that intuition is a great way to find out what type of cleansing your body wants. Take some quiet time and ask your body and your inner wisdom, "what kind of cleanse do I need?"

If it is your first cleanse, I recommend that you do a cleanse with the supervision of a naturopathic physician, acupuncturist or other qualified health practitioner, (someone who listens to your intuition too!). If you find the right practitioner, they can help you to find the best fit for your body type and to help you manage any detoxification symptoms you may experience.

A simple fruit and vegetable cleanse can be done for a day or for several days or more. If you do more than a few days, it is useful to prepare your body by eating a clean vegetarian diet for the week before, using whole foods and eliminating sugar, salt, caffeine, meat and dairy products and processed foods that use preservatives.

I do plan to share more details about some different cleansing options in the future, and if you'd like to be notified, please request my Free eBook where you can access our Naturally Clear News monthly updates.

One other note about fragrance sensitivity, in my own experience this developed as I became more spiritually attuned, and has been less a function of a health imbalance and more related to a shift in the subtle energy bodies. In that kind of situation, cleansing will not take away the sensitivity but will support your body in attaining optimal health and energy levels.

I hope this is helpful and thank you for sharing!

UPDATE - We opened a new section of our site here on how to do a Homemade Body Cleanse which a natural method of helping the body to detoxify.
