The Story of My Skin

by Beth
(Henderson, NV)

My name is Beth and I have super sensitive skin. I grew up with beautiful skin, never any problems and the occasional "once-monthly" breakout. Almost 2 years ago, my skin took a turn for the worst!! I broke out like mad crazy. In trying to counter-act it, I ended up making matters worse with trying different products to stop it. It just became a vicious circle and my face looked terrible!!

I wasted all kinds of money on new makeup and skin care and just wasn't getting any results. For a long time, I thought I had acne problems (and why not?? I had a face full of inflammed acne), so I was using products to treat acne, products that were only furthering my skin sensitivities.

I decided to start school in the esthetician course. In listening and paying attention in class and picking my teachers brain, a light went off in my head and I realized that maybe my problem was I had sensitive skin and not necessarily acneic skin. I started using sensitive skin products and I noticed big changes and pretty quickly too!

I've found that the more natural / organic the product was, the more my skin liked it. I use Almay Pureblends makeup, which is 98% natural and works great! I've also started using a cleanser from the product line called The Healing Seed, that I found in Whole Foods. Its completely organic, no chemicals, its cruelty free, its vegan, its really nice!! My skin LOVES it!! As a toner, I use equal amounts of brewed green tea and witch hazel. Green Tea is rich in antioxidants, its anti-inflammatory & calming. Witch hazel is also calming & soothing and the natural alcohol in it is non-drying. In fact, witch hazel is used in Tucs pads (for hemmoroids). I also use it after I've waxed someone and they turn red. Its calms the skin and takes the red away every time. I use grapeseed oil as a moisturizer because its super rich in antioxidants, vitamins and its anti-aging. Its an oil that your skin accepts as its own and absorbs right in and doesn't leave you greasy or oily.

This is a very inexpensive skin care regime that has wonderful results. My skin looks so good now!!! In being in esthetician school, I've learned a lot about skin and cosmetic chemistry. Thank you!
