Best Age Spot Remover for Sensitive Skin?

by Jenny

I have an age spot on my face that appeared when I was pregnant with my third child. He is now 10 years old and I have tried many things to fade the spot. I have very fair skin I am self conscious of this spot as it is about the size of a dime and really stands out. I have often been asked what it is and even had a waitress tell me I had chocolate on my face. I would love a few tips. Thank you.

Hi Jenny, thanks for your message about lightening age spots after pregnancy. Yes, hormonal changes especially during pregnancy can create age spots, which can be embarrassing at the least and for some women can be severely problematic, to the point that they consider laser treatments and other very expensive options.

The good news is, that there are some natural approaches you can try which I can personally vouch for, that are much more affordable and will not cause the kind of toxic reactions that many skin lightening creams can have.

Most commercial skin bleaching creams contain Hydroquinone which can cause side effects and health problems that anyone with sensitive skin would be wise to avoid. You can read our article here that provides some alternatives for natural skin lightening.

Homemade Skincare Remedy for Age Spots

I don't know if this will work for you, but for me there is a simple and affordable natural food that is one of the best age spot removers for sensitive skin. The key is to do a skin test first to be sure it will
not cause your skin to break out. Test this on the inside of your arm first!

Take one quarter of the rind of a fresh lemon (not the pulp or juice) and rub the inside white part on the places where you have age spots.

Remember I said to first do a skin test, to be sure your face can handle this!

I use this every day on my hands and arms, which developed a lot of wrinkles and brown spots when I lived in a very sunny climate. It works really well, although it does take a while to see the results.

I make fresh vegetable and fruit juice every morning and I add one lemon (without the rind) to the mixture. After enjoying the juice, I take the lemon rinds and rub the white part onto my arms and hands.

I do notice some initial redness in my arms and hands, which fades in a few minutes, and it has not caused a breakout or rash for me.

Again, you'll need to test this on your own sensitive skin to see if it would work for you.

Safe Skin Lightening Cream

You can get faster results for lightening the age spot by using a safe skin lightening cream that does not contain Hydroquinone. It hasn't been easy to find one that works well. I like the Xtend life Whitening Day Cream which contains safe and non-toxic ingredients that are great for the skin and a safer skin lightening ingredient that provides some noticeable results.

I hope these are helpful for you. Please let us know what you find that works for you!
