Facial Skin Redness and Problems

by Barbara

Facial swelling which comes with a redness. Also developing fever blisters on my lip. It started out with red welts which turned into peeling, sores on mouth and burning.

It's gone of for several weeks now and my skin is beginning to feel like sand paper. My face has been so dry that the only way I can keep any moisture in it at all is by applying baby oil a couple of times a day.

It "seems" to go along with the information I've acquired on Rosacea but I'm not sure. It seems there's too much going on to be that!? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi, and thanks for your message. Ouch, this sounds very painful! I recommend that you get a diagnosis from a dermatologist so you can know exactly what is going on. Then you can decide if you want to use their treatments or to follow a self help approach, or both.

Sometimes when you have a severe problem you need a medical treatment to stop the severe symptoms. Then you can supplement with natural and self help treatments.

Baby oil for dry sensitive skin

Using baby oil may in some cases actually be making the problem worse because for some people, mineral oil can clog the pores and have more difficulty absorbing into the skin.

There are varying opinions about this, and one way you can see whether you may be reacting to the mineral oil (or to any skin care product) is to stop using it for several days, and then doing a skin test by applying a little on your wrist or behind your ear. Then see how your skin reacts.

There are many gentle solutions to dry sensitive skin that may help to alleviate some of the discomfort you are feeling without clogging the pores.
