Change of Diet Helped My Rosacea

by Jo
(Eastbourne)

I have been suffering with Rosacea for nearly 5 years and the only thing I know that works for me is change of diet. I came across a book called Eat Right 4 Your Type
, and it is like about what foods are good for your blood type, what foods are like poison to your body, and what foods are healers. I found when reading this book that the foods that triggered my skin were the ones that I should avoid for my blood type. I am blood type O and found this book an easy guide to what foods I should avoid. It covers all blood types.

Rosacea and Environmental Heat

I have sensitive, red skin at the moment, it is triggered mostly by the weather and when i am asleep. i wake up at 1am every morning with bright red cheeks. I think my body heat may be causing my skin to become red, but if i remove my blanket my body shivers cold, however my face is still burning hot, Can you please suggest a solution?

Our reply

Hi, and thanks for writing. I am sorry, I don't know enough about this to advise you. If you have already explored this with your doctor or health professional and still do not find a solution, I would recommend, if you are able, to consider consulting with a qualified Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner. Traditional Chinese Medicine works with the energy and heat patterns in the body and can help to create more balance and optimum health by redirecting the excess heat (which they would call the Fire element).

I have found that TCM provides unique health benefits for some conditions that may not be responsive to Western Medicine. For example, your medical doctor or nurse practitioner may be able to give you medications or creams to help with the symptoms of facial redness. Your TCM practitioner may be able to help you to address the root cause of your facial redness. Both approaches can be valuable, depending on your needs. I hope you find a solution!

Rosacea + very sensitive skin

by SS
(NC, USA)

Hi: I have mild rosacea which makes my skin super sensitive. If any product containing alpha hydroxy acid, glycolic acid etc. touches me my face turns fire engine red!
I also have a history of acne. Now I am 48, and have dry and flaking skin, wrinkles, and enlarged pores.
Please help! What can I use?

Our reply

Hi, thanks for your message. I understand! For many of us, skin can get even more sensitive as we get older. Another challenge is finding products that produce a nice youthful result for older skin, without a lot of irritating ingredients.

For really gentle hypoallergenic products that are soothing and calming ... and also moisturizing without harsh chemicals or herbs, I recommend ***z-cleure.shtml*** . They are very good quality, and free of fragrances and chemical irritants that irritate sensitive skin. They are also affordable for the average person, and come in generous sizes to last a while.

These are some of the products that work well for people with rosacea:

Cleure Day Cream and Night Cream
Cleure Emu oil
Cleure Mineral Makeup

You can find these here at ***z-cleure.shtml***

You do need to read the labels as some of their products may not work for your skin. For example their toner does have a mild form of alpha hydroxy acids. These are very mild and gentle, similar to if you rinsed your face with milk, but since you react to this ingredient I wouldn't use this product right away.

Another product you would want to hold off on for a while would be their facial mask which does contain some mild fruit acids. Later on when your skin is doing better you can do a skin test to see how your skin reacts.

We have a large section on our site devoted to rosacea cures which you may find helpful. In addition to all the suggestions on that page, you will find additional articles on rosacea on the right hand of the page. I hope these can be helpful for you!

Water Treatment for Sensitive Skin

by Kimberly
(Santa Monica)

Hi, First of all I think your information on this blog is really great!!

I'm an esthetician for 12 years and I also have very sensitive skin. As a child I suffered from eczema. In addition to the very thorough information you posted here I wanted to share with you a secret weapon I use in my practice for every skin but especially very sensitive skin like rosacea, acne, eczema etc..

It's a low pH electrolyzed water from Japan. They have used it for decades treating severe cases of these conditions with excellent results. I am not an advertisement I am a real person who works with skin everyday for the past 12 years. The water is used in The Wound Clinic in NY and Akashi Hospital in Japan. It is clinically proven to kill Bacteria on contact. I think treating the skin, our bodies and the earth with a more gentle holistic approach is so important and this is as holistic as it gets and it works! A Non- tramatic cure for ultra sensitive skin.

Early Stages of Rosacea

by Jennifer
(Sherwood Forest)

I have always had spots but when I became pregnant at 31 I started to get what I was told by the doctor was hormonal acne but have since discovered it is Rosacea. I am devastated that there is no cure as I cannot leave the house these days without plastering the foundation on which I have never ever worn before... tinted moisturiser yes, but foundation no, I hate it!! I am in the early stages of sorting my rosacea out so cannot offer any advice at this stage but I will be investing in a whole new beauty regime of mineral, alcohol-free, hypoallergenic products and I shall cut sugar out to the bare minimum... low-sugar fruits etc as I already eat healthy so can't do anymore...

Our reply

Hi, and thanks for your message. You said that your rosacea started around 12 months ago. Was there an particular change in your daily life or stress level that you noticed around then? A new food, new skincare product, a new environment, hormonal changes, or other life changes?

With these kinds of chronic skin challenges, it is often useful to try and find out what triggered it. That can help you make adjustments to your daily life that can help to remove stress from your body, which will help to create more balance and less inflammation.

There are some resources on our site that will be most helpful to you.

  • One is our Rosacea Cures section which contains several helpful articles and also links to a large number of resources that can help you to reduce your rosacea symptoms. Especially useful is the Rosacea Diet section which makes a difference for many people with rosacea.

  • The other is our free eBook Clear Any Skin Problem Naturally which gives you a five step plan for reducing or eliminating your chronic skin challenges, along with suggestions on how to make changes gradually to avoid detoxification symptoms.

  • The Sensitive Skin Survival Guide will help you to find out the cause of your skin problems.

  • Our Safe Cosmetics Guide will help you to understand how ingredients in your skin care products may be affecting your skin. Many of these ingredients cause skin inflammation!

  • Why some brands of hypoallergenic products can cause skin inflammation!

Please let us know how you are doing and if these are helpful for you! Thanks so much for your message.

Hello - Need Help to Find Rosacea Products

by Blaine
(Las Vegas NV)

Hi- do you have a recommendation for products for rosacea? I have tried zen med and many others and they all seem to create the little red bumps under my skin and break outs. Help- I would really appreciate any info you can give me. Thank you Blaine

Our reply

Hi Blaine,

Yes, the Zenmed products do contain ingredients that can be very irritating to some sensitive skin, such as:

Propylene Glycol
Methylparaben
Propylparaben
Diazolidinyl Urea
Essential oils

If you are breaking out, try products that are paraben free and that contain fewer ingredients, and which do not contain plant allergens. Our visitors have great results using
***z-cleure.shtml*** products which also have gentle loose mineral powders and concealers that can cover the redness while your skin is healing.

Also, there are rosacea remedies that you can take internally that can help your body to reduce the inflammation and redness. ***z-native-rosarex.shtml*** is the most popular remedy on our site, it is made for very sensitive people and works very gently and is formulated to have very few or no side effects. ***z-native-rosarex.shtml*** may work better for you than an herbal remedy, as it is less likely to cause cleansing or detoxification reactions.

You may also find that modifying your diet (I know that isn't as easy as it sounds!) can help to reduce your rosacea symptoms. Here are some of the foods that seem to help reduce facial redness.

Cosmetics and Skin Care

by Valerie
(Surrey, UK)

I am really enjoying reading all about your Rosacea the dos and don'ts and learning about the hypoallergenic skincare etc but before i found your site I ordered Dermologica Skin cleanser and cream i don't know whether to cancel that order now and buy from the ***z-cleure.shtml*** range or will the Dermologica work ok

Thanks

Ps i love what you have written and will indeed note about foods, vitamins etc, really helpful thank you

Our reply

Hi Valerie, thanks so much for your message. I am so glad our site has been helpful for you! I appreciate your taking the time to share.

I took a look at the ingredients list of some of the products from the Dermalogica website. Some of them could be irritating for you, although they could also work fine, it really depends on your unique skin. Be sure to do a skin test before you use them or any new product.

Their products contain a number of ingredients that I don't personally recommend (See my Safer Cosmetics Guide for Sensitive Skin ) such as Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Isopropylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Butylparaben.

Also, Dermologica products contain a long list of ingredients, sometimes as long as least 35 different ingredients, any one of which you may have a reaction to if you're not sure exactly what you may be allergic to.

Many of these ingredients are essential oils which some people react to. It's like hay fever ... the outdoors is natural, but your body is allergic anyways.

When you have sensitive skin, using products with a shorter list of ingredients is safer, as there is less chance you will react to any one of them. That's why I like ***z-cleure.shtml*** as they have managed to make really nice and effective products that produce great looking skin and hair, without a long list of irritants.

One other major benefit I have found with ***z-cleure.shtml*** is that their products are very affordable, and they last a really long time. A little goes a long way.

All this being said, everyone is unique and what works for one person may not work for another. I hope this is helpful for you in finding skincare products that will work for your sensitive skin. Let me know what you learn!
